I’ve been receiving hundreds of e-mails in regards to Bumpy’s hair cut. This isn’t a style that is in any grooming book. This is my own creation inspired by Bumpy. What I call a “Modified Breed Cut”. A hair style that accentuates the breeds body type while insuring functionality and comfort. I have designed such styles for multiple breeds. One of which is the “Bumpy Johnson”. I’m going to put out a dvd on how to do the Bumpy Johnson. So stay tuned.

I’m so glad you won Groomer Has It. What a great show. I’m a mobil groom in Central Florida. I love Bumpy Johnson modified breed cut. Wish I could talk my customers into that style. But no, they just want puppy cuts really short because of it being so hot down here. Oh well. Good luck on all of your adventures, I will be watching you as you grow.

    Hello
I was looking for pictures of Bumpy’ hair cut. I love the way you left the hair on the legs long but cut the body hair short. Every time Beverly Hills Groomer is on I am trying to study and look at Bumpy’ cut. Can you please let me know when you have some information on this cut.
I have 2 shih tzus and I am to poor to take them to the groomers. I am trying to teach myself. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you great Artist. I admire you drive and your an inspiration to many people.

I ARTIST! AND YOU TRULY ARE AN ARTIST LIVING THE CREATIVE LIFE GIVEN SO OBVIOUSLY BY THE GROOMER OF THIS BEAUTIFUL UNIVERS…GOD THE ALMIGHTY. I HEARD YOUR STORY ON THE SIR DARREL SHOW TONIGHT, AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE NEVER SEEN YOUR SHOW…JUST HEARING YOUR VOICE AND YOUR STORY HAS SO INSPIRED ME AND MY HEART. I AM A REGULAR CALLER AND LISTENER TO THE SIR DARREL SHOW AND TALK RADIO X AND I AM ALSO AN ART TEACHER IN MY BLACK COMMUNITY IN MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN. I HAD BEEN WORKING FOR OVER 25 YEARS AS A FREELANCE ARTIST….WHILE DOING VERY UNCREATIVE JOBS ALONG THE WAY..BUT BUILDING UP ALL KINDS OF CRAZY EXPERIENCES. .THEN I GOT CALLED TO TEACH ART AT A CHARTER SCHOOL ,IN THE HEART OF THE ROUGHEST NEIGHBORHOOD IN MILWAUKEE, TO SOME VERY DIFFICULT , HARDCORE BUT BEAUTIFUL LITTLE BLACK KIDS, RANGING AGE FROM 5 YEARS OLD TO 12. CHILDREN. THE SMALL SCHOOL ART TEACHER JUST WALKED AWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND NEVER CAME BACK! THIS SHOOL HAD A MULTITUDE OF UNDISCIPLINED, ANGRY LITTLE PEOPLE AND THE TEACHER WERE HAVING A VERY HARD TIME TEACHING IN THIS ROUGH ENVIRONMENT. IT JUST SO HAPPENED I CAME FROM A FAMILY OF TEACHERS BUT HAD NO DISIRE AT THAT POINT TO EVER BE A TEACHER. BUT GOD WORKS IN PERFECT, SIMPLE WAYS!!! LONG STORY SHORT…AND 6 VERY DIFFICULT YEARS LATER …I’M PROUD TO SAY THAT I”VE BECOME GREAT ART, MUSIC, AND THEATER TEACHER. I HAD NO IDEA WHEN I WALKED INTO THAT SCARY PLACE THAT I HAD FOUND MY CALLING. THIS HAS TURNED OUT TO BE THE JOB THAT GOD HAD PLANNED FOR ME TO DO ALL ALONG. I AM ALSO A AFRICAN AMERICAN MAN AND KNOW THAT MY CONSISTENT ADULT MALE PRESENCE, LOVE OF ALL THE ARTS, MY SPIRITUALITY, AND THE LOVE I SHARE EVERYDAY WITH THESE MAGICAL LITTLE BROWN BEINGS MAKES A DIFFERENCE TO THEM, MY COMMUNITY, AND TO MYSELF! GOD BLESS YOU, MAN . LOVE AND PEACE TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, KEEP ON BEING THAT SHINNING LIGHT THAT IS ARTIST! CORY HAYWOOD FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME BACK, AND THANLS FOR THE TIME. Bumpy is very cute! We took in a shih tzu for a couple days but the allergies were flying, so sadly we had to give him back after 2 to 3 days. I’m currently taking college courses for web design development, since it seems to be my best talent at the time. I have a year finished and another year to go then I will probably be starting my own business within a few months of graduating. When I move out & get settled in my own place I plan to adopt a few pets that need rescuing the most. My stepmom has been buying puppies (labs, shelties, boston terrier) the past few years. They are cute but I think I will go to the shelter instead of paying so much for a loving pet.

Artist I love Bumpy’s haircut! I’ve been grooming 25 years and it’s nice to see something different on a shih tzu for a change! I get so tired of cutting them all short..one length. Even trying to talk some clients into something left on the legs is sometimes impossible! Of course though, I am in Texas and yes, it does get pretty darn hot so they want their pets comfortable. Been a little aggravated with some of the comments about Bumpy’s haircut to fix it, but I like it just the way it is ..and if you’re happy and Bumpy’s happy with it then I say let it be. *I* think he looks great! :)

    Hi Artist,

In reading the other replies I found that Tamara Martello wrote every word I was wanting to say. I was on here hunting for photos of Bumpy just so I could try to figure out how to copy his cut. I have a shih boy that I rescued a few months back and have wanted to cut his hair like Bumpys ever since I saw him on your show. I have 9 rescued fluffs and cannot afford to go to a professional groomer so I do them myslef. I groom 4 Bichons and do a pretty good job with the scissors but I have no idea how to groom a Shih.
Glad to see you are setteling in to your shop and are happy !
Please put me on your list for the DVD when it comes out, can’t wait to see my Billy buffed up like Bumpy.
